Medicine Spoons (aka: infant feeders, dosage spoons, dose spoons, measuring spoons and/or sipping spoons)

Medicine spoons, as mentioned in the introduction, and included in this section, were often manufactured in the early part of the 20th Century.  Many folks that collect these also collect infant feeders and describe them as also being infant feeders. One can not dismiss that they are very nice to the eye (being so small - about 3 inches in length of so). Some are often characterized as teabag holders, caddy spoons, butter boats, sipping spoons and/or dosage spoons when you see them for sale.  With all that - I also admit that some actually are caddy spoons and/or butter boats.  To even confuse you more I have been told that people did use caddy spoons and butter boats to administer medicine in the past because that is what they had available at the time. Except for a few Creamware graduated and ungraduated varieties however (and the actual caddy spoons and butter boats) a majority of them are early 20th Century however.

Please look at the Photo Library as it contains a nice inventory of wonderfully representative samples to enjoy and study.
